Clarence Fahnestock Memorial State Park

Clarence Fahnestock Memorial State Park boasts miles of hiking trails, a beautiful beach, picnic areas, scenic campground, and abundant opportunities for boating, hunting, fishing, horseback riding and birding. 

 

The park is also home to the Taconic Outdoor Education Center which provides high quality environmental programming, and Fahnestock Winter Park where users have access to 15 kilometers of groomed trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing and sledding area.

Fahnestock Winter Park

The Fahnestock Winter Park is based out of the Canopus Beach Complex on Route 301 in Kent (less than a 1/2 mile west of the Taconic State Parkway). 
 

Admission: Adult $9; Under 17 $6; Senior $8.

Ski Rental: Adult $17; Jr. $15.
Tube Rental: $4/hr.

Snow Shoe Rental: Adult $15; Under 17 $14

Swimming at Canopus Beach (closed for the season)

The Canopus Beach Complex is located on Route 301 in Kent (less than a 1/2 mile west of the Taconic State Parkway.)

There is a $7 vehicle entrance fee.

Both barbeque areas have grills and on-site concessions are available.

Gate open from 9 am to 5 pm with swimming 10 am to 6 pm


Open Daily: June 25th through Labor Day (September 3, 2012)

Boating on Canopus Lake (closed for the season)

The Canopus Lake Boat Launch will open again on Sunday May 27, 2012 through Monday, October 8, 2012. 

Boating on the lake is by permit only. Both weekly and season permits are available at the park office.

Open Daily: May 27, 2012 through Monday, September 3, 2012 from 10am to 6pm.
Weekends and Holidays Only: September 3, 2012 through October 8, 2012 from 10am to 6pm.

Camping at Fahnestock (closed for the season)

Fahnestock has more than 75 campsites. The campground is open from mid-April to mid-December. Campground reservations can be made through ReserveAmerica. 

Pelton Pond Picnic Area & Picnic Pavillion

The Pelton Pond Picnic Area is on Route 301 (across from the park office) overlooking the pond. There are grills and picnic tables available on-site. The Pelton Pond Picnic Pavillion is a historic structure  constructed during the CCC era. This shelter is availble for rental for events. Hunting
