Building Bridges

Project Type:
Trail Project

The bridges on School House Mountain Road are in need of repair. In particular the third bridge which prevents other bridges from being repaired. The money for the third bridge has been available for materials, but the project was stymied for lack of labor. The park has given permission for FoFHH to repair the bridges, beginning with bridge #3.

For this first project, the park will supply help in moving materials from the trail head to the worksite. FoFHH will supply the volunteer labor including management of the project.

John Magerlein and Walt Daniels have provided a work plan for bridge #3 to the park manager (subject to approval from the regional office) and have technical skills to train volunteers to

  • build a temporary stream crossing
  • dismantle the current bridge
  • build a new bridge
